Martin Nievera’s Unlawful Rendition Of “Lupang Hinirang” - NHI

The Manny Pacquiao VS Ricky Hatton fight blew the world out of their sits upon seeing the two-round knockout Pacman did to the Hitman. Though, not all were pleased at that time specifically the said unlawful rendition Martin Nievera did on our National Anthem, “Lupang Hinirang.”

Teddy Atienza, head of the Heraldry Division of the National Historical Institute (NHI) pointed this out that the Philippine law prohibits any person or entity to make changes on the National Anthem’s original musical arrangements. It compels also for a public apology and a fine from P5,000 to P20,000 or face imprisonment of up to one year, either way.

Martin as of the moment refused to apologize arguing that he ain’t the one who wants it that way but Manny himself asked him to sing it that way. In fairness, nobody at that time reacted negatively on how Martin sang it but even more received a very warm and heart pumping appreciation of how fresh and vibrant he had made out of it. (…with a great match of his Francis M’s shirt revealed more of under his black coat as he tops the end note!)

However, at the end of the day… nobody is above the law. Unless changed. So what do you think? Would this be enough reason for a Charter Change? Just kiddin ;)
